Help Jamel Fight Cancer

There are two things Jamel Teodosio Alston is known for, dancing and his brilliant and easy smile. Ok, and maybe his hair.  Well, a few months ago, Jamel's smile got a little strained as he started noticing symptoms.  He went to the doctors and ran some tests, and then some more tests, and then finally they had an answer, but it was not an answer that any 25 year old expects. Jamel was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and it had spread to his stomach, liver and various other parts of his body. 

Now Jamel has begun his battle with cancer, and it really *is* a battle. Cancer treatment is a long and slow process that takes it's toll on every aspect of a person's life and of their loved ones, and no one can face it alone. When Jamel received his diagnosis, he had just recently moved into a new apartment, but with his treatment, Jamel needs to break his lease to return to his family to get the support that will be crucial this fight.

This fund is to help Jamel break his lease, help pay for treatment, and if we do well enough, help pay for the hundreds of little things no one thinks about until they or a loved one is going though treatment. 

Jamel is a wonderful guy. He is compassionate and caring.  Creative and curious. Always the first to jump up and help another. Always there for those around him. Patient and kind, even when the world is frustrating. It's been said many times that "it's just impossible not to like Jamel." and it's true.

A lot of us have been wishing for a way to help. Here is one way. Let's help our colleague. Let's help our teammate. Let's help our friend. Let's help Jamel get back to dancing again.
