Help Jake & Mikaela get back on track!

Donation protected

6 days ago Jake and his pregnant fiancee Mikaela had their lives turned upside down. After stopping to provide assistance to a car accident; Mikaela was unfortunately struck by one of the cars involved as she got out of her own vehicle. She has sustained horrific injuries to her legs and after being extracted from her car was transported to hospital via rescue helicopter and placed into a coma.

Since the accident Mikaela has already gone through many surgeries to repair the severe damage to her left leg and to also save her right foot - there will still be surgeries in her near future and the future of her right foot is still unknown.  Through all this, Mikaela is fighting hard and keeping strong for her baby who at 28 weeks is highly likely to be born well before the due date as a result of this accident. This is a whole extra worry for them both at an already stressful and worrying time.

Jake and Mikaela should be enjoying  the last few months of pregnancy together, getting the nursery ready, planning their future and celebrating each moment of happiness before their lives change again with the arrival of their first child.  They shouldn't be worrying about what long term effects this is going to cause for not only Mikeala but their child too.

The short and long term financial burdens will be extensive and I would like to raise some money just to help lessen the hardships that they'll face. Jake needs to be with Mikaela and the baby for the foreseeable future - there's no income coming in while this happens and the bills will be mounting along with accommodation while Jake is in Brisbane with Mikaela, food, fuel, parking etc. Long term they may need to modify their home, their car, their work choices and be faced with the possibility of a prosthetic foot for Mikaela.

Everything we take for granted now  going into the kitchen to make a coffee, running after our children, driving our cars to work, walking around the shops is something that Mikaela will not be able to do again with ease. There will always be long term worries and complications with her injuries.

If you can donate anything - even the smallest amount can make such a difference in just helping lessen the burden for them.

Jake and Mikaela are Lockyer Valley locals, they work local, they volunteer their time local, Jake is apart of the local emergency services - I know we can come together and support two people in genuine need of help. Jake and Mikaela would also like to donate some of the funds to Careflight for their outstanding work they do and how they helped them during their greatest time of need.
