Help Jacqui Heal After Serious Accident

Donation protected
Hi! Here are some updates and some xrays (yes, those are 10 screws, 2 rods and a plate)! Jacqui finally made it back to Matthews, NC where she continues to recuperate from the accident. She has quite awhile of recovery as she starts regular rehabilitative therapy to gain strength to walk without the walker and hopefully gain more use of her right arm and hand. It is still unknown when she will be able to drive or return to work. So far, not in the foreseeable future. Please consider a small gesture to help my sister out. For all that have, you are amazing humans. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Greetings. This is Amie Jo and this GoFundMe is for my sister Jacqui Shepperd. On June 3rd while on vacation Jacqui was in a serious accident resulting in multiple spine and neck injuries (medical terminology:dissection of vertebral artery, central cord syndrome due to cervical spondylosis, myelomalacia, central cord syndrome of cervical spinal cord at C6, closed fracture of sixth cervical vertebra, and a fracture of cervical spine). she was rushed from Key West to the ICU at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami. She has lost feeling and use of her right hand, has limited use of her left hand and has limited mobility - she needs to use a walker to carefully get around. On June 10th she had major spinal surgery to place screws in her neck and repair the damage. The road to recovery will be long and there are still many unknowns. 11 days after the surgery on June 27th she was transferred to an inpatient physical rehab hospital for 12 days in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She is now recovering with in-home support in Sanford, FL with her son Kyle until she can return to Matthews, NC the end of this week. The neurosurgeon is estimating that the first 6 months are the most critical in rehab and taking as long as 18 months for the fullest recovery. During this time she will not be able to work and it is unknown when or if she will be able to return to her job. Finances will be a struggle as she navigates recovery. Medical bills will start to flow in, especially since this is an out-of-state event. We are asking for contributions to help Jacqui heal and focus on her road to recovery. If you have any questions, you may reach out to me, Danny or her daughter Danielle. Much love and light to you all. Life can change in a matter of seconds.
