Support for Jacob Loyd
Lorenna is raising this fundraiser for her son, Jacob Loyd, after a hateful act of vandalism turned his life upside down. On Tuesday night, Jacob’s white Dodge Avenger, which he had been working hard to repair and keep on the road, was targeted in what his family believes was a hate crime. Black spray paint with a homophobic slur was sprayed on the car, the inside was damaged with rotten food, sugar was poured into the gas tank, and about $200 worth of Halloween decorations were slashed and broken. Jacob has been part of the LGBTQ community and has felt targeted over the past two years, which has made this attack even more painful and devastating. The vehicle has now been described as a total loss.
Jacob is only 20 years old, but for the last three years he has worked hard to help take care of his mother after her thyroid cancer diagnosis and to help support his two siblings. With his father also in the hospital, reliable transportation is urgently needed so Jacob can keep working and continue being there for his family. This fundraiser will help Jacob replace his vehicle and begin to recover from this heartbreaking loss. Please consider donating if you can, and if you are not able to give, prayers, kind words, and sharing this fundraiser would mean so much during this very hard time.
