Our beautiful boy Huey was diagnosed with Stage 4S Neuroblastoma at 10 weeks old, with the primary tumour located in his neck which had already spread to his liver, causing significant enlargement. Neuroblastoma is a rare childhood cancer that can often go undetected for an extended period of time. We are truly grateful for Huey's relatively early diagnosis and biopsy results which have determined the risk category as intermediate. What this means is that Huey's prognosis is good and his chance of relapsing has decreased substantially. This offers a constant glimmer of hope for us on the tougher days. In saying this, Huey's journey with this illness continues.
Thankfully, the amazing medical team and nurses have coordinated a plan of attack to treat Huey's condition.
Whilst this experience has been harrowing, we as an extended family have grown stronger, with friends and family members pulling together to create a formidable opponent for the insidious illness that is cancer. Huey has so many people in his corner to battle this illness with and for this we are so truly grateful.
Huey has received numerous blood transfusions, all provided by the generosity of complete strangers who have dedicated time to donate blood at the Australian Red Cross Blood Bank. It is important to us to remind each of you of the positive impact this can have on unwell people and we ask to please donate blood if you are able to.
Upon Huey's diagnosis, his parents Jill and Lindsay have battened down the hatches with grace and strength, ensuring their eldest son Leo has not been negatively impacted by this experience whilst ensuring Huey has the best care possible.
We have dedicated this page to fund everyday expenses for Huey's treatment in addition to ongoing medical costs. We are grateful for each contribution, as this page is not solely intended for financial reasons, but can also serve as a platform to show support for Jill, Lindsay, Leo and Huon May. Xxxx
