Help Hilary Beat Cancer

Dear Village!

I am creating this GoFundMe account on behalf of my dear lifelong friend Hilary Thomas who has been recently diagnosed with lung cancer.

Surgery is required immediately to remove half of her left lung. Surgery will take place on April 4th in Kitchener, ON. This will be followed by chemo and radiation treatments etc.

You can imagine that this has been quite frightening and painful news for her to process.

Hilary has been unable to work since relocating to Guelph and has been struggling to make ends meet with an insufficient fixed income while her health and energy levels have been progressively declining. She simply doesn't have the resources to fight this battle with ease, comfort or dignity unless we do something to help her.

She has been reluctant to burden her family and friends with her plight, but I know that many hands can make light work of this predicament. I have finally convinced her to let me put together this fund on her behalf.

Anyone who knows Hilary would tell you that she is one of the sweetest, thoughtful, kind hearted and hilarious people in the world. She very much deserves to have some of that kindness returned to her now in her time of need.

Hilary cheers loudly for the people she loves. She whole heartedly celebrates every success of her large family and friend circle. She keeps in constant loving contact with her nieces and nephews and honours the memories of her late siblings and parents in so many lovely touching ways. She always takes time and care to make sure that people feel loved, seen and heard by her.

Hilary is an impassioned animal lover and advocate and is a devoted mommy to a special needs puppy mill survivor named Suzie, whose needs she consistently places above her own.

To say she has been an incredible friend to me is an understatement. I would have been lost many times without her unconditional love and encouragement, so I simply cannot ignore the difficult situation she is in right now.

Every little bit helps tremendously..don't underestimate what even $10 could do to help someone who is living in need.
