Help Henry Fight Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Donation protected
It is with both sadness and great optimism, I write this about my work colleague and long-time friend, Henry Murillo.

He's an amazing guy who has a passion for House Music, enjoying the Jersey Shore, working out at the gym, spending time with his family and friends and hanging out with  his rescue Rottweiler, Diesel.  Henry was very recently diagnosed at 41 years old with Stage 4 Advanced Unfavorable Classic Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Nodular Sclerosis Type).  It has been a great shock to him, his wife Jasmine, their son Robert, and the rest of his family and friends.  Henry's always been a very healthy and active guy who's frequently on the move and enjoying life.

Henry's health problems began this past February when he went to see his Primary Care Physician.  He had been feeling run-down and fatigued.  His doctor thought it was the everyday wear and tear of dealing with life's stresses.  He had Henry take a blood test which came back normal.  Henry was sent home with the instructions to take it easy, get more sleep and try to manage his stress better.

Over the next couple of months, Henry's health deteriorated.  He started experiencing intermittent fevers, night sweats, fatigue and unexplained weight loss.  He also developed painful swollen lymph nodes on the sides of his neck, above his collar bone and under his arms.  He suddenly lost interest in his daily gym workouts and lacked the energy to do the things he loved.

Henry went back to his doctor and a second blood test showed an elevated white blood cell count.  He subsequently got a chest x-ray and a CAT scan.  Henry and Jasmine were worried it could be lymphoma, but were hoping it might be something "less worrisome" like tuberculosis or sarcoidosis.

On June 13th, Henry found out that he had stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Despite that tough news, he and Jasmine have found strength through their faith in God and are very grateful for everyone's prayers.  They have relied on that faith as Henry begins his treatment.  He has already had one of twelve rounds of chemotherapy at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center, and he'll be undergoing treatments every two weeks for the next six months.

As you can imagine, this has been a very challenging time for Henry.  Fortunately, he's blessed with a loving and supportive network of people around him.  His wife of almost five years, Jasmine, (Happy Anniversary 7/7/14) has been by his side and there for Henry at every step.  She just completed the school year teaching 2nd graders at a public Elementary school in Staten Island.  Jasmine's grateful that she'll have more time to spend with her husband this summer before returning to teaching in the fall.

Their twelve year old son, Robert, is also praying for his dad every day.  Henry's mom, Maria, and mother-in-law, Blanca, have been beyond amazing and his cousins Alex, Gabe and Ana flew into town this past week to support their "favorite" cousin.  They're only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the people who are rallying around Henry.

At this time, Henry needs the support, prayers and funds from ALL of us to help his family through these challenging days ahead.  He's currently out on disability for at least six months (at less than full pay) from his pharmaceutical sales job and may be out of work even longer.  Every donation will be used to offset the high cost of deductibles, copays, prescription drugs, travel expenses and all of the other costs associated with battling cancer.

We are requesting funds as soon as possible.  Any donation, large or small, will go a long way towards helping the Murillo Family.  Help us widen the circle of support by sharing this link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email and any other social media platform you can think of.  Together we can make ALL the difference in helping Henry to beat Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Thank you very much in advance for your generous support.
