Help Hellen Help Children With Cancer

Dear friends,
During my time in Kenya this summer, I spent almost all of my spare time volunteering at the Shoe4Africa Children's Hospital. Here, Teacher Hellen took me under her wing and opened the door to her Oncology playroom, where, for over 15 years, she has helped children with cancer cope with the stress, fear, and anxiety that comes with their illness. As a Child Life healthcare worker, Hellen continues to give a 100% of herself to the children in the cancer ward, reading, singing, playing, and dancing with them, holding them when they are feeling particularly unwell, helping them cope with the passing of another child, and giving their little minds the emotional strength to deal with difficult interventions and procedures.
Despite her years of service to the lives of children, new institutional regulations require Hellen to acquire a Master’s degree in order to continue her employment. Hellen would like to pursue her Master’s in Developmental Studies at the Moi University School of Arts in Eldoret, Kenya. The funds we raise together will help cover her tuition expenses and will allow Hellen to start school in January.
Having worked with Hellen for 4 months, I am deeply humbled and truly inspired by her selflessness and compassion. Helping her go back to school is a cause I am intensely passionate about. I am so grateful for your support in advance. We need more people like Hellen in the world, and I know we can make this happen together, one Hellen at a time.
