Dear Friends,
This is Maria Flor, the granddaughter of a dear friend who will be born this December.
Her daughter, Thalyta de Oliveira, is now 26 weeks pregnant.
Maria Flor was diagnosed on the 5th month with a severe Congenital Heart Defect called, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It is a malformation in which the left side of her heart (the part that pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body) is underdeveloped and unable to sustain her outside the womb. Without treatment, babies afflicted by this malformation can die within the first days or weeks of life.
Treatment consists of several surgical procedures designed to create normal blood flow in and out of the heart, allowing the body to receive the oxygen-rich blood it needs. The costs for the treatment are very high and they can not afford to lose this battle because of money. Her loving parents are ready to fight but they need our help.
