Help Heal Dozer

Donation protected
On the evening of Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 9:30PM, our eldest "Son" and fur baby Dozer the Boxer suffered a devastating and traumatic accident while out for his nightly walk, fracturing his left back femur in a freak accident after going potty. We were half way done with our walk when the accident occurred. Dozer had chosen an uneven, "hilly" lawn to relieve himself on, and after he was done, he proceeded to, what we call his "chicken foot kick" (which apparently a lot of dogs do), when we heard the terrible cracking sounds of his bones breaking that we will never forget. A gracious neighbor & his spouse who heard Dozer's cries of pain came to our rescue. He quickly drove Shawn 3 blocks home to get our Jeep so he could rush back to the scene of the accident to pick up Dozer and myself,  loaded us into the back of the Jeep and rushed immediately to the doggy emergency in Irvine, CA. After getting to the emergency room and receiving Dozer's evaluation, the doctor confirmed that he had a fracture of his left hind femur, and that he would require emergency surgery intervention to repair his leg. Dozer remained in the hospital on heavy medications to keep him as comfortable as possible until the orthopedic surgeon could see him in the morning. After her evaluation, they squeezed Dozer into the schedule and operated on him for 3 hours Thursday evening. The surgeon noted that his bone would require a lot of "metal" to fix the fracture and it would be a long road to recovery, but that dogs "typically do very well".  The team of doctors are reviewing Dozer's case to better understand the root cause of the fracture, but advised us that it could just be due to his older age and arthritis. Of course, this will require much more in depth testing at a cost. The reason we are reaching out to everyone, is due to the extreme financial hardship that this unexpected tragedy places on our family. To add even more weight to our suffering, on February 02, 2018,  just 2 short months ago, Dozer's 9.5 year old baby brother Wyatt succumbed to a 4 year uphill battle of  osteosarcoma (cancer) of the jaw.  As you can imagine, the three of us are still trying to recover from the extreme emotional, physical and financial burdens that we have recently faced from treating Wyatt's cancer. We understand that times are difficult for everybody, but if you can find it in your hearts to donate and to please SHARE our story and the link to this GoFundMe page with your friends, family, employers, co-workers, church, groups and social media pages and with your efforts hopefully we can raise enough funds to HELP HEAL DOZER!

Our current vet bill totals $8780.59 (see attached) and we are still in the process of understanding what the miscellaneous costs of Dozer's recovery will be, ie; rehabilitation, medications, X-rays, etc.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read and to share our story. This means so much to us as our fur babies are our children. We got them both as babies, both are from the same mother and father and we raised them just as anybody would raise their own children, with love, compassion, patience and more love.  Again, we need the power of your voice and your compassion. Please, please, please post, re-post, forward, share, tweet, etc, the link to our GoFundMe page and we know that we are forever gracious of you all. We truly NEED your help as we cannot make it without the support of EVERYONE.

For your convenience, we have included a PayPal Donation Button as well, if you prefer PayPal as a donation method.

Thank you!
