Help Grandfather Receive Justice from Hit and Run

Donation protected

APRIL 20, 2021 UPDATE:

The individual responsible for this incident has been identified. We would like to personally send out our love and appreciation to everyone who shared, donated, and sent us their words of support.

Any further donations will be going directly toward medical/rehabilitation care fees for John Almasi Sr.

As of now, we are still unsure if John will ever be able to walk again. We will continue to post updates regarding John's condition as we navigate these difficult, unforeseen circumstances.

Thank you again,

The Almasi Family

----

On Tuesday, April 13th, John Almasi Sr. was struck by a vehicle travelling ~80kmh near Kingsville, Ontario. The driver did not stop to check if John was okay, and instead left him in the middle of the road, unable to move, crying for help, in the dark.

Fortunately, a vehicle in the opposite lane drove by shortly after and called 911 once they realized what had happened. John Almasi Sr. is suffering serious injuries as a result of this incident, including head trauma, lower spine trauma, a broken femur, a broken wrist, a broken arm, and both broken hips.

John Almasi Sr. is a loving grandfather and father. He is close to celebrating his 90th birthday, but he has the heart of a child. He loves to go dancing, fishing, hunting... but at this point we are unsure if John will ever be able to enjoy these activities again.

Once John has been released from the hospital, he will need to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility, and despite his desire to return to his home that he was in the process of renovating, it is likely he will need to stay at a care facility due to the nature of this incident.

Our family is shocked and devastated. We intend to find whoever is responsible for so heartlessly leaving John in the middle of the road that evening.

Funds raised will be contributed to the reward for whoever can identify who is responsible for this. The reward is currently set at $2000. Funds will also be used for medical/rehabilitation care.

The car has been identified as a dark grey Honda with damage to the passenger side, potentially missing a side-mirror.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please call the OPP, Crime Stoppers, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
