Help Gil To Fight Against Aggressive Breast Cancer

Hi everyone,

My name is Ander, and I am fundraising to help my Girlfriend's Mother to fight against a very aggressive breast cancer.  But first, I would like to introduce you to her Mother. Gil is a very enthusiastic person. She loves dancing, singing, talking and spend time with family and friends. She is always laughing and taking the mickey out of everybody. She is a woman full of faith and she is also crazy about dogs, specially her dog Penelope, who is always following her everywhere.

A few months ago, we found out about her Mother's breast cancer, and this news broke all of us down. After the diagnose she had to make some specific exams and we got more devastated news, that her subtype is a very aggressive one, HER2-Positive, which is already in metastasis. At this point there is no longer the possibility of a cure and Gil will have to undergo strong treatments for the rest of her life.

Gil is a single mom and has no job. She used to be a very independent woman by selling silver, but she is not able to make it now, due to chemotherapy side effects, which has been affecting her regular activities since she has started. Because of that, at the moment, my girlfriend is the only one who provides her mother’s house. She is an international student in Ireland,  which means that she needs to pay College to guarantee her work and study permission. As a student she has limited work hours, even though, she works hard to send money back home, but it is not enough to afford her living in Ireland and to help her mother out to fight against this cancer.

Even breast cancer’s chemo being partially free in Brazil, they still have to pay for the bills and some extra expenses, like medications, exams, food, transport, and all together it’s a lot to her to afford it by herself.  To help her Mother to deal with chemo side effects, I intend to be able to afford the recommended alternative types of treatment, which involves good nutrition, councillor, palliative treatments for pain relief, etc. Once she is well assisted at this very first time of treatments, we hope she will be able to have a “normal” life back again. The raising money will be used for all of these expenses mentioned before and for any other emergency situation.

This cause is extremely personal to myself because it is about helping my Girlfriend's Mother, who is the most important person in her life. She is a very strong and special woman, who fulfils everybody with faith and grace. We all feel a lot for having to deal with such a difficult news, but we believe that if she gets the right treatments to keep her body strong to fight, to keep the smile on her face, to keep her mind positive, anything can happen.
