Help Ginny and Family With Medical Expenses

Ginny’s health struggles began when she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in January, leaving her with a Hickman line that is placed into her chest which supplies a continuous infusion of medication to her lungs.  In June, Ginny’s medical condition worsened when she suffered a sudden onset of paralysis from the waist down. It was discovered that there were lesions throughout her brain and spinal cord.  Ginny was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital July 3rd where she underwent further testing. She was diagnosed with NMO, neuromyeltis optica, an immunological disorder.  She was hospitalized there for 2 1/2 weeks while being treated with a plasma exchange; a central line catheter through her groin was placed so that her blood plasma could be removed, filtered and replaced. This process was done 5 times. In addition, lymph nodes in her neck were biopsied and returned a positive result for cancer. Further testing is still being done to determine the origin, at this point all that is known is that it’s a stage 4 form of lung cancer. The PET scan showed cell activity in the lymph nodes but none in the lungs so we are waiting on
blood work, a spinal tap and a course of treatment. Ginny is currently in Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Cambridge MA undergoing physical and occupational therapy in hopes she will regain her ability to walk. She is able to move her feet, although feeling has not returned. The family has been by Ginny’s side every day while at home and in Massachusetts. She is working hard to get better, gain strength and her spirits are high. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated so that Ginny and her family can continue on
