Why We Are Fundraising
While 2020 has been challenging for all of us, in early December Ginger received some devastating news -- she has been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer of the "invasive lobular carcinoma" type, which is moving through her lymph system and possibly into areas on her collar bone and thyroid. Additional diagnostics are being scheduled.
Because the cancer is exacerbating Ginger's Chronic Active Epstein-Barr and Hashimoto's disease, the upcoming tests and treatments will render her further immunocompromised so the doctor required that she quit working and we are fundraising to help cover her expenses. We will update these numbers as we learn more.
Immediate Expense Needs
This is where your compassion comes in -- our fundraising goal is an estimate that will help Ginger bridge the gap of expenses for the duration of her treatment. While she has resourcefully secured federal and hospital aid for her hospital treatment, she must immediately cease her physically taxing part-time engagement per doctor's orders, leaving the following critical basic living needs unaccounted for:
• Rent & Utilities (7 months = $11,074)
• Groceries for Ginger & the kids (7 months = $4,200)
• Car payment and insurance (7 months = $3,710)
• Out-of-pocket supplement and holistic treatment costs (estimating $400/mo x 7 mos = $2,800)
• Childcare (8 hours/week -- during doctor's appointments or if Ginger needs assistance while she's home) $3,216
