Help get Sweeny Dog Impound get a SHELTER

The Friends of Sweeny Impound Fundraiser is so important. Sweeny Impound isn’t really a “shelter” as it is just a few kennels outside, there is absolutely no relief from weather conditions. Just like we are going through now…they had to wrap the kennels in tarps and it still wasn’t enough and had to transfer the dogs to a near by boarding business and city. This is the same shelter we’ve had since I was in high school over 30 years ago. The city has only allotted $1,000 a year for food, supplies and an operating budget! They increased it to $2100 this year. When I learned of the situation in December, we bought a refrigerator for vaccines, dog food and beds and kennel cleaning supplies off of their Amazon wishlist for Christmas but it’s just still not enough. These dogs need an indoor facility AN ACTUAL SHELTER. Sweeny is supposed to be a City With Pride- let’s get these animals a shelter to be proud of! Also the city has a horrible cat problem and an indoor facility would allow for cats as well. ALL animals are placed for adoption…cats and dogs as the Sweeny Impound is a NO KILL facility, but they need a facility because they have no room. Listen, I understand funds are limited and there are lots of projects that need to be done. The city isn’t going to resolve the water situation overnight, nor the road conditions, but THIS can be resolved immediately with YOUR help! The city already has a structure that can be converted into a shelter they just need the funds to do so. That’s the purpose of the fundraiser…to get these animals a shelter instead of being in a kennel in a field. All funds will go towards a new shelter and supplies. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
