I am going on a 19 day trip to Egypt in December! I still need to get round trip tickets to Cairo and a wide angle lense for my Nikon. This is a photography trip for me as much as it is a journey of self exploration...
Details on the trip:
The trip is 19 days total, with 3 nights in Cairo (Giza), 7 nights in Luxor , 4 nights on a sailboat down the Nile River, 4 nights in Aswan and one last night in Cairo before headed back to Seattle. This will be the guides 5th trip to Egypt.
Yes! We are going to see the great Pyramids!
Yes! I am gonna go INSIDE the Pyramids!
Yes! I am gonna ride a Camel!
Yes! I am gonna sail down the Nile River!
No, I cannot photograph the inside of ANY of the tombs or the Pyramids, it is a respect to the dead, one, and it is also highly damaging to the art to expose it to flash photography, which they cannot control without not allowing it at all, so they have banned it to preserve the art, which I highly respect!
Yes! I finally get to live my dream.
So Why Egypt? You may ask yourselves. Besides the awe inspiring architecture, beautifully preserved wall reliefs and hieroglyphics, of course, It is actually the mythological belief system that they built their entire existence upon that I am fascinated by. Every part
of the ancient culture.
I am going to photograph and journal. My dream has always been to become a photojournalist and archaeologist. Egyptology is in its own category in my book. Although its a passion I would more than love to persue.
You know that you are truly passionate about something to the deepest level, when a single thought or image brings tears to your eyes, it is a feeling that can't be replaced. I am a VERY spiritual person, and this trip found me; And to me, that is a sign from the gods, and I will not refuse their offer. It feels like this was fate. The fact that I am 25 and am going to be accomplishing my biggest life dream by the end of the year. I can't even describe this feeling. It's actually unbelievable to me at this point.
