Hi there, My name is Ronan Sheehan, and I am the current Chairperson of the Cairde Khmer Cambodia GAA Club in South East Asia. We have received the momentous news that our club has been chosen to represent Asia in the upcoming World Games in Derry, Ireland, in July 2023!! We will be sending two all-Cambodian
squads, men and women. But we're going to need YOUR help to get there!

Cairde Khmer has been competing in Asian Gaelic Games since 2017. Year after year, our men's and women's squads travel internationally to neighboring Asian countries to compete, often finding success. 2022 saw us reach the finals in both the men's and women's cups. No mean feat, considering our squads consist mainly of Cambodian nationals, and the teams they play against are predominantly Irish diaspora. We received the call to represent Asia on the back of this enormous achievement, along with the success of previous years.
It's no small undertaking to get to those tournaments. Average wages in Cambodia waver between $190-$300 per month, not to mention that many of our players come from NGO backgrounds or are currently studying. We have to assist our players throughout the year: from training, playing equipment, jerseys, flights, accommodation, and food; every little step requires a big jump to get there.
Getting around Asia, then, is a tall order. Getting to Derry? Consider that our Mt Everest. And that's where you come in! We've calculated that our journey of a lifetime will cost upwards of EUR 70,000. For a small club in a far-flung area of the developing world, we will need all the help we can get on some essentials. Those are:

EUR 1.5k Bus travel within Ireland (Dublin/Derry)
A fairytale ending always begins with peril until a hero comes along to navigate the treacherous road to triumph. These players and this team deserve the chance to be the heroes of their own chapter.
