My name is Catherine Mwangi, I lost my beloved husband of 33years Geoffrey Mwangi on 30th March 2021, after living and fighting with diabetes for over 25years. He was the beloved father to my three children and a grandfather to our beloved grandson.
He was diagnosed with type II Diabetes in the year 1996 and had successfully through diet and medication managed to live a healthy lifestyle until the year 2018 when his kidneys started failing as a complication of his diabetic condition. From there hence he started going regularly for dialysis, but his health further deteriorated in the year 2019 from where he was constantly on and off the hospital. He became partially blind due to his medical complications by losing sight of one of his eyes.
On 21st March 2021, his health condition led to him being admitted to Oak Tree Hospital in Eldoret Town, Uasin-Gishu County, where he was later, transferred to ICU for close monitoring. After a week of treatment, he was later transferred to the general ward while showing steady recovery. It is here that his condition suddenly became worse, and he passed on. He was the sole breadwinner of our home.
Medically I have also had medical challenges of my own, I have been suffering from chronic arthritis that had had me bedridden for a year, and with my husband’s support, I underwent hip replacement surgery on my left leg in 2019. I had only recently recovered full mobility, after painful physiotherapy and walking with Crutches. All through my husband stood by me and held my hand. Now with him gone he has left us with hospital bills of USD 8075.22.
I hereby call on you support by giving a donation in order to offset the bill and give my husband a decent burial.
