Help Geoff Crush Brain Cancer

Hello all, my name is Lauren and I am raising funds for my partner, Geoff, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, in October 2022. During that time, he underwent awake brain surgery which was very successful! He then proceeded to receive radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Geoff got back into working and started school again. Geoff was determined to keep building his life and future despite his diagnosis. Unfortunately, like many who live with this disease, the tumor recurred in less than a year.

On February 5, 2024 Geoff underwent his second brain surgery. Only 70% of the tumor was resected, leaving limited options for treating the remaining amount.

Brain cancer is a rare diagnosis, especially with someone of Geoff's age. Difficult conversations were had, as we were advised that this type of tumor is known to only have a 1-2 year survival rate. The standard treatments for brain cancer have not changed in over 30 years. With all of these things considered, we have decided to pursue clinical trials for life saving treatment in the United States.

Myself, Geoff and our families plan to not let the statistics distract us towards causing any sense of discouragement but instead plan to beat those odds by doing everything medicine offers.

As Geoff works through this treatment in the next coming months, we kindly ask for your support. The funds will be used to pay for the clinical trial treatment, accommodation and travel costs. Additionally, for living costs while we navigate this journey as Geoff is not eligible for financial benefits.

We have been so blown away by the generosity of our community. It is humbling to see the kindness in strangers, and the love of the people who know us. Thank you does not begin to cover it!

Since we have started receiving funds, we have applied for three different trials after speaking with Geoff's oncologist. Two are in North Carolina, including one at Duke University. The last is in Houston, Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Centre. All health records and MRIs have been sent and we are currently waiting on some responses. Some trials require consultation, which we have been quoted $29,000 USD. We are really hoping for one trial, which consists of CAR-T cell therapy: a brand new research for GBM patients that has promising results. We will continue to keep you updated - and thank you again!!
