HELP GAYELLEN BEAT THE PAIN

Gayellen Davis is a dear friend of mine. I met her in April 2015 when I started taking her Zumba(r) Gold class. She is a positive, energetic and absolutely fantastic instructor whom we all love dearly.
Gayellen is 63 years young and unfortunately has been diagnosed with bi-lateral osteoarthritis in her knees - there is no cure. After two years of agony and trying to circumvent surgery with physical therapy, medication and shots in her knees with minimal results, she finds her legs are now buckling and can barely support her weight.Walking has become excruciatingly painful (ask her pup Mickey, he doesn’t get the walks he used to) and she currently can’t even walk off a curb or step for fear of falling.Since nothing else has helped, Gayellen made the difficult decision to agree to a total double replacement knee surgery.Her recuperation will be long and she will not be able to work or teach Zumba(r) during this time. Gayellen feels like she is between a rock and a hard place with no income and a long term recovery.
Gayellen’s insurance only covers a small percentage of her surgery. We are asking for $5,000.00. This will help cover her medical bills, post surgery physical therapy/rehab as well as lost living wages. Any donation (from $5.00 on) will be greatly appreciated.
A LITTLE GAYELLEN HER-STORY
Gayellen is a single mom to an adult daughter and a devoted doggie parent who loves God and the art of dance. From 2009 to 2015 she danced on her congregation’s Dance Worship Team.
After taking Zumba(r) for a number of years, she accomplished a dream in 2014 and became a licensed Zumba(r) Gold Fitness Instructor, helping seniors and special needs adults.
Early in 2015 Gayellen started experiencing the debilitating pain in her legs. She can no longer dance on the worship team and finds it extremely painful to keep teaching her Zumba(r) Gold classes. She has to take pain medication before and after each class, and must ice her knees consistently.
Gayellen is like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going in spite of the pain. Her loyal students continue to take her classes and we have a great time.
She has always been so generous to her community, participating in Zumbathons(c) and various fundraisers to benefit those in need. Her love and devotion to others is endless, like the sand on the beach or stars in the sky. Please let’s show her our support by donating whatever you can to help her afford this crucial, life changing surgery and recover quickly.
