Help Fund Our Vet Bill For Our Snow, Hit and Run

Hi my name is Giuliana Modugno.

I am writing this in the unfortunate event that our dog Snow, was hit by a truck early this morning on Shore Rd in Linwood, NJ.

She is a beautiful, sweet, docile, and charming German Shepherd who's love and loyalty is immense. She is 2 years old and full of life, we love her like our own child.

The person who did this left the scene and we have little to no information on who they are. All we know is that our dog is in very bad condition and the man was driving a red truck, hit her going about 40 MPH, and drove off even faster.

Two witnesses saw this happen, we are also contacting the stores in the vicinity to inquire if they have any cameras on their property that may have captured the make of the vehicle or the license plate.

The police are investigating as well.

After getting our Snow back to us, she was in shock and bleeding out from the side of her face, her snout, and her legs, as well as losing a K-9 tooth. We immediately rushed her to the Linwood Pet Hospital where they overlooked her and gave us a thorough estimate of the procedures needed.

At this time, we cannot afford to undergo these procedures, and no clinic in a 50 mile radius is accepting new clients at a lesser cost in comparison to actual veterinarian hospitals.

Snow will need to be hospitalized for a few days, she will need anesthesia, X-RAYS on her body and skull incase of brain trauma, a skin graph on her snout, and surgery to replace the missing vascular tissue on her face and snout.

After these procedures, the Vet recommended we take her to a Dentist, as her K-9 was lost on impact and the root of the tooth has a large possibility of infection and internal damages.

She will also need reconstruction of her snout, where her skin was dragged off from the vehicles impact.

 

We are utterly in disbelief that this has happened, and in the lack of compassion in the person who did this.

I am beside myself in starting this Go Fund Me, and am asking for any information regarding any possible options to get our Snow to a veterinarian, or for any help or donation from anyone at this time.

BELOW IS THE DESCRIPTION FROM LINWOOD PET HOSPITAL:

DIAGNOSTIC WORK-UP: examination- significant trauma to muzzle- concern for fracture of the bone with soft tissue damage to the skin over it. Lower left canine broken at gum line. Open shearing wound right lower cheek, muscle underneath looks ok, flushed and cleaned wound. Open puncture wound top of right foot, cleaned area and flushed wound. Bruising around the right eye, no blood noted within eye, normal pupil responses seen both eyes and pet is visual and acting appropriately. Tip of right ear torn off completely, at this time bleeding is controlled. 
DIAGNOSIS: blunt force trauma to head and front right leg
MEDICATIONS: We scripted out oral antibiotics and a topical antibiotic cream to use on the wounds. 

HOME CARE: the wounds were clipped, cleaned and flushed out. Skull radiographs, chest radiographs, and bloodwork were declined at this time due to insufficient funds. Please monitor her closely for any trouble breathing, continued bleeding.
Feed soft for the next week.
We recommend a consult with a veterinary dentist to address her lower left canine. 
Please monitor the wound or incision for any signs of problem, including increasing redness, heat, pain, swelling, purulent discharge, opening up, or any other signs that are concerning. If these are noted, please have your pet re-evaluated as soon as possible. 
It is important to keep these areas and the surrounding skin clean. Your pet will need to be kept indoors in a clean, dry environment. If blood/fluids accumulate on the surrounding skin, you can gently clean the area with a washcloth and warm water. Be sure to dry the area thoroughly after cleaning. Please do not apply peroxide on the area, as this will slow the rate of wound healing. 
Your pet will be sent home with medications, some of these medications may cause side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. If you see any of these symptoms, please call our hospital.
