Help Fund Oumal's 1st year at Howard University

Hi, my name is Oumalkaire Omar, and I was accepted into Howard University's business school as a Finance major. I will be going into my junior year in the fall, and I hope to raise $25,000 to finance my first year at Howard.

When I first heard the news of my acceptance, I was over the moon with excitement. However, this joy was short-lived. A few days after my acceptance, the school issued my financial aid package, which stated that my cost of attendance would be $48,560 for the year. I received $12,990 in aid from FAFSA and Howard. This left a $35,570 gap, which I am expected to cover. This news was disheartening and discouraging, but I told myself that I would not give up on attending my dream school without putting up a fight. After spending several days trying to get helpful information from Howard's financial aid office, I was bluntly told that the school could not provide me with any more financial aid because I am a transfer student. Although I need $35,570 I am only asking for $25,000 because I have managed to save up $10,000 by working multiple jobs over this past year.

I grew up in a single-parent, immigrant, low-income family who can do very little to help me cover this cost. I created this GoFundMe as a last resort because I want to know that I did everything in my power, and I hope that this platform's power can help me reach my goal.
