In September of 2017, Jason Reza Jorjani, PhD suffered a serious defamation in the pages of The New York Times and other news and media outlets that disseminated a surreptitiously recorded and deceptively edited video of him. A few minutes of Jorjani’s remarks in a private conversation with a man who approached him under false pretenses were taken out of the context of the two hour conversation that they had together. Sentences and even half sentences were spliced to make it seem as if he is a racist and an advocate of genocide. Jorjani has attempted to set the record straight on how and why he was defamed. As a consequence of this defamation, he was first suspended and then fired from his university position. Moreover, the further defamatory statements made by NJIT faculty during this period have basically rendered him unemployable.
Since that time Jorjani has been pursuing a legal battle against the New Jersey Institute of Technology for putting their academic stamp of approval on yellow journalism, showing disregard for academic freedom, and violating his first amendment right as a citizen of the United States. An increasingly costly legal battle is quite difficult to wage without secure employment. This GoFundMe is being set up to help Jorjani wage his legal battle until his name is cleared, and also to allow him to continue his research and writing. From May of 2018 (when his academic contract was officially terminated) until the completion of his most recent book, Iranian Leviathan: A Monumental History of Mithra’s Abode, Jorjani’s work was supported by a private group of Iranian investors who subsidized that book project.
During his doctoral studies, Jorjani’s area of specialization (AOS) was Philosophy of Technology (with an emphasis on Parapsychology research findings). In line with this AOS, Jorjani’s proposed next project would return to the concept of the Spectral Revolution that Jorjani developed in Prometheus and Atlas, combining this with the thesis of the technological singularity that was the focus of World State of Emergency. The book, tentatively titled (R)Evolutionary Spectre, would look at the data of Parapsychology in the context of technologies so innovative that they have the potential to fundamentally transform the human condition.
These would include, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Virtual Reality, and Zero Point Energy. (R)Evolutionary Spectre would examine Transhumanism from a parapsychological perspective, imagining both the promise and peril of a Transhumanist project that would be set free from the shackles of the modern materialist paradigm and reclaim its roots in Faustian Alchemy. The discussion of virtual reality would extent to a consideration of the Simulation hypothesis that is situated in terms of Carl Jung’s concept of Synchronicity, and vice versa. In other words, phenomena such as Synchronicity and Reincarnation would be reexamined from a technological viewpoint.
Other subjects will include the question of what it means to encounter “Alien” life in an age when biotechnology could transform what were once human beings into life forms as alien as any that we are likely to encounter in outer space. If, when taken together with Astral Projection and Psychokinesis, warping the fabric of space with Zero Point Energy could allow us to traverse time, what would it mean to come to terms with a non-linear human history, wherein various possible futures are remaking the past and present? These are the kinds of metaphysical, epistemological, psychological, and sociological questions that (R)Evolutionary Spectre will be concerned with exploring.
