Help Fred Wheatley w/ Medical Bills

Hello everyone! I am starting this gofundme in an attempt to raise money for my parents due to my dad's recent hospitalization from a seizure. He's doing much better now, but due to some recent unfortunate circumstances, my parents don't have insurance to help cover the cost of this event. They've been struggling quite a bit financially as it is, & they have no way of covering the cost of this unexpected event.

On the morning of January 1st, my mom found my dad collapsed on the floor in his bedroom. He had blood coming out of his mouth & she had no idea what was happening with him, so she immediately called 911 & he was rushed to the hospital. They found out that he had two severe seizures, believed to be caused by an issue with the seizure medicine he takes (he had two tiny strokes and a seizure just over a year ago and was put on anti-seizure medication then). At the hospital he was stabilized and tests were run to try to figure out what had caused the seizures. They kept him overnight for observation and he was able to return home the next day. He was prescribed a new anti-seizure medication that should effectively prevent the type of seizure he's experiencing and it has less severe side effects than his previous medication.

This event came at the worst possible time for my parents. They've been going through quite a bit of financial trouble lately & due to their insurance company raising their premium to over $2000 a month for 2018 (which they simply can't afford), they had to cancel their insurance on December 31st. They were in the process of finding a new & more affordable insurance plan, but obviously weren't expecting something so tragic to happen just 1 day after their insurance ended. They are also still paying off my dad's hospital bills from last year when he was in for 5 days following his previous seizure. My dad was told to follow up this hospital stay with a neurologist within a week, which he did. They ordered a 24 hour EEG test to help them determine what type of seizures he is having, but he hasn't been able to have it done since they have no insurance to pay for it. They also found out that the new anti-seizure medication will cost just under $300.00 per month and his current medication is over $200.00 a month as well.

My Mom was hoping to get a job after the new year so that she could help improve their financial situation, but since my dad had this seizure, he is unable to drive for 3 months per seizure protocol. That means my mom has to drive him to all of his work appointments & won't have the time for a job on top of that.

I feel so bad for my parents, who just feel stuck in this seemingly hopeless situation. Anyone that knows Fred & Linda Wheatley knows how big their hearts are & how many lives they've touched over the years through their compassion & generosity. They've never been the type of people to ask for help, so that's why I'm doing it for them. I know that our great God has His hand over this situation & that He has the power to bring restoration & healing to my parents who so desperately need it. & I believe that this could be an amazing opportunity to come together as a community & provide a miraculous answer to their prayers.
