Help for Vicky Roark's Surgery

Donation protected
I am raising money for my co-worker at Crest View Animal Clinic - Vicky Roark. Vicky suddenly lost sight in her right eye over the summer. It was discovered that she had a tumor wrapped around the optic nerve.

Vicky endured a 9 hour surgery at the University of Penn Hospital where a neurosurgeon had to enter her eye orbit by cutting a hole in her skull and moving aside her brain before the opthalmic surgeon could get to the tumor and the very delicate task of removing it. (Thank goodness it turned out to be a benign tumor). The neurosurgeon closed with a metal plate to cover the hole in Vicky's skull.

Most of the $250,000 surgery was covered by Vicky's health insurance, thank goodness, however she has a $6,000 deductible. She also lost 5 weeks of income while she was out of work (Doctor's orders!).

As if this wasn't bad enough, Vicky continued to have pains in her head and a spot that refused to heal. A follow-up with the neurosurgeon revealed that there was an infection around the plate and a second surgery was performed 11/27 to remove the plate as well as some of the skull that had died. We have not heard yet when she will be able to return from work. A third surgery will be needed to fill in the 'divot' left by the second surgery.

Please help by giving, any amount is greatly appreciated - Vicky should be worrying about her recovery and not her finances. She has touched a lot of lives through her contacts in the veterinary field and her riding club - let's help make a difference, too!
