Help for the Mejia family-Hurricane Ian survivors.

Donation protected

Amanda has always been a strong force in my life. We have been friends for over 13 years. Our children know and love each other. We are chosen family. I am determined to help them get through this devastation in any way I can. My friend has been through so much. I feel TOO much but she has always survived.

With Amanda’s permission I would like to share part of her story and why helping is so important. In December 2016 Amanda’s husband, Felipe was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He died 3 months later. Amanda had to fight and figure out she would take care of their 3 children on her own. She was a homemaker/stay at home mom. Taking care of her husband, home and children was her job. She overcame it all.

In June 2020 Amanda and her children moved to Iowa to be her Mother’s caregiver. In May 2021 the family relocated to a Florida for a fresh start. Amanda successfully landed her dream job. Florida was the beautiful positive change the Mejia family needed. Amanda’s mother died on August 14, 2022. And now just over a month later the family has lost everything. Amanda and her children were told to evacuate their home due to the severity of Hurricane Ian. They packed up their cats and drove. While on the road Amanda received a call nobody is ever ready for. Her home was gone. She lost everything. He entire life now was lost to the ocean.

The family made it to Chicago the evening of September 28th. They have nothing but the clothes an their backs and their cats. I believe as a community we can help them rebuilds

If you can please send her anything. If you have clothes to donate we can coordinate that as well. Please like and share this post. We have to help them.
