Help for the Homeless during the Covid-19 Crisis

Our team has set up Help for the Homeless During the Covid-19 Crisis to contribute to the financial support of our homeless community members during this national health emergency.

Here’s the problem:
Many cities, including the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County are under a necessary shelter-in-place order along alongside strong social distancing recommendations.

But our unhoused neighbors living in congregate settings like shelters, transportation centers and encampments can't stay home and effectively socially distance.  If we don't allow all of our residents to socially distance,  it's not just a risk to the unhoused, but it's also a risk to housed people and our health care systems. 

There is a shortage of masks, gloves, sanitizers, thermometers, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and other items at New Life Evangelistic Center.

We are purchasing face masks, gloves, sanitizers, thermometers, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and other items needed to protect our Safe House guests and the staff members and volunteers that meet the needs of the homeless in the St. Louis and Springfield area daily, so they can continue to meet those needs.

We need face masks, sanitizer, personal hygiene items and other items to pass out to the homeless. 

We also need prepackaged food, sandwiches and water to hand out. 

Here’s how we’re solving this problem:
Larry Rice and volunteers have been searching physical and online stores for face masks, gloves, sanitizers, thermometers, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and other items.

Unfortunately, our funds were already low before this crisis started.  We are struggling to keep up with the demand.

How can you help?
We ask that you consider making a donation to contribute. Every dollar counts no donation is too small. If you want to help our homeless first responders, chip in $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford.

Simply sharing this could have a large impact on the livelihood of these individuals.

It is urgent that we protect the homeless and those meeting their needs. They do not have a home to shelter-in-place in.  They do not have the means to purchase items for protection from the virus. T

The pandemic is growing and we need to stay ahead of what is yet to come.
