Help for Nick - Brain Damage

Nick’s cognitive function has been noticeably declining over the last six weeks. Can’t do school work that he could previously do, forgetfulness, trouble learning new school work, etc, so He was taken to a sports injury clinic that specializes in concussions that were missed and therefore not treated. They did a scan of his brain function and a mapping of his neuro-pathways and found that he sustained some damage to the front right side at some point. We’ve narrowed it down to a hit he took last summer at the LSU football clinic during a game of two-hand touch without helmets. He went for a fumble and someone accidentally kneed him really hard right where the damage is. The tests showed his brain is only 40% functional in the damaged section. The doctor described it as an 8-cylinder engine that’s running on 3 cylinders, so he has brain damage, but it’s treatable. It will take about 4 months until a full recovery.

Anything will help, and we are so appreciative! Nick is a hard-working kid that always steps up and does things for others without a second thought. We love him and hope to help him to get the help he needs.
