Help for me and my family during breast cancer

CANCER! The word everyone fears and associates with death, I never thought it would be happening to me! August 31st 2021 changed my life forever! Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie and I have invasive ductal Carsinoma un my right breast. I will be undergoing a bilateral mastectomy with breast reconstruction on October 19th 2021. I am a 34 year old mother of 3 amazing kids and have a really supportive loving partner who is in the process of releasing medically from the military.

The day I found out....as my daughter waited in the waiting room next to me, the radiologist came in to tell me they had found two nodules and that they had registered me into the RADS program at the Ottawa hospital. We were leaving for Niagara Falls with the kids a few days later and all I could think was "is this my last trip"? I was devastated.

The biopsy was 1 week later and 5 days later it was confirmed. Invasive ductal Carsinoma. The first tumor is 2 cm by 2 cm and the second is 7mm by 7mm. After undergoing, genetic testing, an MRI and finding out that I have the progesterone and estrogen markers, I opted for the bilateral mastectomy. I didn't want to live my life wondering when it would return had I gotten the lumpectomy.

In the meantime, recovery will be a while. They say a few months. I'll only know after surgery if they will want to do radiation and or chemo which would have me out of work longer. The funds I'm trying to raise are to help support my kids while I'm not working, and to help me pay for bills while I CANT work or do anything to help arround the house. I feel awkward and out of place asking for this as I am someone who would in normal times would get things done myself. But these are not normal times and now I am that person on this end.
