Help for Living Donor Recovery

My daughter Ashley gave the gift of life by donating a kidney to a friend on July 31st, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She initially took one month of leave for surgery and recovery, and planned to stay in Houston with her recipient for two weeks to recover before flying home. When returning home to Alabama, she began experiencing pain on the plane and was rushed to a local ER. The hospital found bilateral pulmonary emboli and pneumonia in her lung bases and plueral effusion in her chest. Because of the severity of the complications, Ashley's transplant team flew her back to Houston for additional testing and recovery. These complications causes immense pain, and because she was healing out of state, Ashley and her husband were unable to be at home with their children for one month. 

Because of her complications, Ashley must miss three more weeks of work to recover. It is a struggle for her to move around without back and chest pain from the complications, and she is still recovering from the initial abdominal surgery as well. Her recipient was able to assist in initial costs, but now both families are recovering and facing unseen medical costs and lost wages. These funds will enable Ashley's family to pay for their basic needs as well as specialist co-pays and medication. 

Ashley and her husband teach high school English and Science and are the parents of two boys. They love their jobs and selflessly give their time to students, but face a lack of paid leave, short term disability, or large salaries to cover unexpected costs. 

Although they have been able to cover initial expenses for surgery and recovery, they need urgent assistance with covering the lost wages that have resulted from Ashley's additional complications. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
