Support for Corbin

Donation protected
Our 7 year old son, Corbin, was assaulted by a teenager in our neighborhood on April 13th, resulting in a depressed skull fracture and subdural hematoma. He had an emergency decompressive craniectomy that night and the right side of his skull will remain off for a minimum of three weeks to allow the swelling to subside. The neurosurgeon told us it could be kept out for anywhere from three weeks to four months. After the swelling goes down, he will need to have a second surgery to replace the bone flap, which will result in another stay in the ICU and then some time inpatient in a surgical recovery ward. Thanks to the amazing team at Riley Children’s Hospital he has made a miraculous recovery so far, and he is talking and walking like nothing happened for the most part. We are home from the hospital now, and he has been fitted with a helmet to protect his brain whenever he is up moving around (which he obviously hates). The doctors have reminded us that although he is doing exceptionally well, TBI recovery is a long journey. On top of our accumulating medical expenses, he cannot return to school this year and someone needs to stay with him 24/7, which is putting a large financial burden on us. He also has various doctor and therapy appointments he needs to attend. If you would consider donating, sharing this page, or keeping us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time we would be immensely grateful.
