Help us finish our school in rural Uganda!

Tax deductible
If you don't know me already, my name is Jennifer Kirabo, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Create Foundation Uganda! I have been living and working in Uganda on and off for over a decade, and permanently relocated here two years ago so that I can oversee our school and ensure it stays true to my vision every step of the way! Making a difference in the lives of others is my passion, and I truly believe that this school & community will change the lives of thousands of deserving people in rural Uganda! I hope that you will consider opening your heart to help us reach our goal to finish constructing our school - whether by donating, sharing or just spreading the word!

Our mission:
The mission of Create Foundation is to empower the people of rural Uganda & create lasting positive change by constructing & operating a school and community center which will provide children in need a FREE, quality education, as well as serve members of local communities through job opportunities, educational programs & outreach initiatives.

If you weren't aware, in Uganda, there is no taxation system implemented that covers public schooling. If a child wants to attend school, they must pay tuition to attend every single term. Schools also often require students to purchase a uniform, and bring a list of requirements (notebooks, pens/paper, books, soap, cleaning supplies, money for food) and those requirements alone are often unattainable for families trying to make ends meet. With many families having multiple children, the task to find money for each child's tuition becomes nearly impossible. Families cannot afford to pay the fees for their children to attend pre-primary, so they often save up to send their children to Primary One (first grade). This poses a major problem, as children enter P1 with no previous early childhood education - many do not know how to read, write, or have ever set foot in a classroom. This often results in children being unable to keep up, repeating P1 or dropping out all together. In fact, less than 9% of Ugandan children have access to pre-primary education. In rural areas like where we are working, the numbers are significantly less.

We strongly believe that every child deserves access to education and that the fundamentals learned in pre-primary are essential to their development. We are constructing a school in Madu Village, Uganda, which will provide children in need with a completely tuition-free education. The majority of people living in this area live on less than $1 USD a day, and simply cannot afford school fees for their children. Our school will provide the invaluable opportunity to begin their academic journey on time and to receive the strong foundation needed to continue their academic careers successfully.

Covid 19: Covid19 affected everyone in the world in some way, but here in Uganda, people have suffered tremendously. Uganda had one of the most strict lockdowns worldwide. For nearly 2 years, schools were shutdown completely, country-wide curfews were in place from 7pm-7am (which prevented many people from traveling to work) businesses were shut down, and for 3-4 months at a time movement was prohibited all together! No cars, taxis or buses. People were literally stranded at home and unable to work. And unlike in other more developed nations, no stimulus checks or government assistance was provided. People that at one point could maybe afford to send their children to school are no longer in that position. Our school and community empowerment center will fulfill a critical need.

In the last few years, we have accomplished so much!!! Thanks to friends, family and a beautiful community of supporters, we have:

  • Purchased 3.6 acres of land in Madu Village, Nakasajja, Uganda
  • Constructed a road through the village up to our school - which has increased accessibility to people of the area
  • Built drainage ditches on each side of the road to allow water to safely run off during rain, and to also help prevent flooding to local homes
  • Constructed a CLEAN WATER WELL which has been providing hundreds of people clean, safe drinking water since 2020!
  • Engaged in community outreach - providing food and necessities to people of local villages during Covid lockdowns.
  • Built & completed our CLASSROOM BLOCK which includes 3 large classrooms, teacher's office & director's office
  • Constructed the school's kitchen - where all meals for students and staff will be prepared and served
  • Constructed the school's dining hall - where students & staff will enjoy their meals as well as the space used for community meetings & activities
  • Provided over 60 local people fair-paying jobs

We have come such a long way, and are so grateful to every single person who helped us to get here! This school is truly a community effort, and wouldn't be possible without people like you!

We still have a ways to go, but the largest (and most expensive) structures are now complete, so we just need to raise funds for these last remaining structures and necessities so that we can open our doors in early 2023!!!

We are raising funds for the following:

  • Washrooms: washrooms for boys/girls/staff
  • Medical Centre: On staff at school will be a qualified nurse who will provide care for sick/injured students. On weekends and set times out of school hours, a Board Certified Physician will be available to provide free medical care for people of local communities
  • Playground: featuring slides, swings, seesaw, sandbox etc.
  • Solar Panels: there is no electricity hookup in the village, so the school will be powered by solar
  • Water Tanks: we already have our clean water well with electric pump which is providing water for the village and our school. Water tanks and pipes will be needed to bring the water up to the school and store it for use in sinks/toilets/kitchen etc.

These structures/items are needed in order for us to open our doors! Any help is tremendously appreciated!! No donation is too small! Every penny helps and counts!!! All of our US team are volunteers, and the only paid staff are the Ugandans working on the ground here! 100% of EVERY DONATION GOES DIRECTLY TO THE CAUSE!

!!Create Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations are tax-deductible!!

The entire team thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your support! It means the world to us and all the people of Madu Village!
