Our founder, Rebecca Dixon, is a thriving survivor of sexual abuse. Her father molested her for 10+ years, and instead of letting that hold her back, she rose above the odds and became an advocate. In 2017, she started a movement called Fight the Silence, which brings awareness to sexual abuse. Fight the Silence now consists of a team of eleven people who care deeply about the future of our children. Fight the Silence hosts special events (such as 5Ks) to raise awareness of sexual abuse and funds for organizations that are actively working towards living in a world where abuse ceases to exist.
The purpose of this organization includes, but is not limited to, creating effective preventive strategies to promote awareness of sexual abuse, providing intervention modalities (when I obtain my LPC), and raising funds for research, advocacy, and services to support survivors. Our mission is to end abuse, one conversation at a time. Our vision is to equip communities to address sexual abuse via awareness programs. We have a goal to provide a safe space for dialogues on issues such as sexual abuse and empower communities to end to sexual abuse.
For the past two years, you all have put your trust in Fight The Silence and believed that we would use these funds to raise awareness for sexual abuse! For that, we are forever grateful and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This time will not be any different! Receiving our 501(c)(3) status will allow us to become legit and put the donor's mind at ease! Becoming a nonprofit organization will be a huge milestone for Fight The Silence!!
