Help Fight Carol's Breast Cancer

Big Thank you to everyone that has donated to us through the website and to us personally. The love and support we have received as been overwhelming.
As most people are aware of Carol’s breast cancer and the love and support we have received from Family, Friends, all the Hospital staff as been overwhelming. The toll this takes on the family is overwhelming, and I never would have guessed at how bad it can be. It been 5 months since Carol was diagnosed and the fight continues for at least another 3 months or possibly longer and that’s just treatment. This does not include the follow up checkups, tests and medication that lasts for years.
The system in place for the actual treatment of cancer, from our experience has been excellent, the support for family and friends is excellent as well…. but from the government, well that’s a different story. Its been a battle. All that added stress is the last thing people need. Excepting people to go back to work, and if they can’t go back to their previous employer due to medical reason due to Chemo, they expect people to find other employment. Think about that… what employer is going to hire anyone that must be in the hospital 2 days a week for blood work and treatment and then sometimes up to 3 days of recovery. That’s 5 days out of 7 that person can’t work. So, while you are looking for another job as required, they give you E.I. and that’s only 55% of your pay. People can be off work to up to a year before they are able to go back to work…. how many of people can say they could take 55% of their spouse’s pay and live with out making any changes to your life style. Better yet do you really think any of this added stress should be placed on anyone or their family while they battle cancer… As a someone in this position I say no. People do not ask to get Cancer…it’s a horrible disease that can wreck families at the best of times…The system should be there to help people battle Cancer as stress free as possible.

Carol and I are fine, her treatment is going excellent and cant wait till the day she rings that bell.
