Help fight Ashley's cancer
In May of this year (2017), Ashley was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma skin cancer. Through the course of 2 surgeries, we found that it has spread to her body, via lymph nodes. While the original spot had been removed in the first surgery, Ashley will require 12 months of treatment to rid her body of the cancer that has spread. There are specific medications for melanoma, that are not considered chemotherapy, but can affect the body similarly. She will be receiving interferon treatment for 1 year. The port that she will receive the medication through, will be placed via surgery on July 27. The treatment will then begin on July 31. The first month will consist of very high doses, given 5 days a week. The following 11 months will drop down to lower doses, given 3 times per week. The side effects are expected to be flu-like sypmtoms throughout the treatment, but it will all be worth it, to kill this terrible disease.
While the treatment has not yet begun, we are already drowning in medical bills. We have drained our savings, just trying to keep up with all of the appointments and surgeries. Unfortunately, we are behind, and our family is in desperate need of help to continue the necessary medical care. Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated, as it is needed so urgently.
