Help Farmer Palmers Feed The Animals

Donation protected

Farmer Palmers Farm Park, Dorset's award-winning, family-run visitor attraction was ready to welcome everyone for the Spring and Summer but the Government call for all Restaurants, Bars, and Attractions to close, due to the pandemic, has left the Farm Park eerily quiet of children's laughter. All of our attention is now on our beautiful animals. They miss the children too.

We are fund-raising for the basic necessities of our animals during the coming months. Food, bedding, any vet care, welfare requirements. The feed bill is around £1900 per month and the additional hay and bedding, welfare bills mount up.

We have over 200 animals who are firm favourites with families, school groups and disabled visitors. Our Farmer Palmer Customer Experience has been a key educational and fun part of family memories for a generation over the past 22 years.

Rest assured we are keeping all of our animals here for when we re-open and caring for them as our farming childhood taught us to years ago. With our parents in their 80's they are self-isolating where possible.

Our animals are part of our family. So many of you know :
We have successfully bottle-fed 40 baby goats, 3 times a day which the children would normally have been doing.
Minty the cow, and her calf as well as our Milking Girls, Mandy and Dotty, eat a lot of cow nuts.
Our stunning Valais sheep love hay.
Poll Dorset ewes need cereal feed for nutritional support whilst feeding their own baby spring lambs
The pygmy goats and lively goat kids still need hard feed.
Our awesome guinea pigs are happily chomping their way through delicious fresh vegetables which we still buy-in for them.
Our ducks and chickens need corn and the ponies have vitamins.
The alpacas, donkeys, rabbits and other animals all have specific food requirements.

You all know our animal care is our top priority, so don't forget we will also stick to our routine vaccinations and welfare checks which must be organized by us, when needed, with Damory vets and our Farrier. Animals need things such as foot trimming, worming, shearing, grooming, love and comfort!

At this time of year we are running low on our hay stocks and, although we have turned many animals out to grass, there are also bedding requirements we need to meet.

Trust us when we say we are doing all we can, but the promised grants and funding we have applied for are proving slow to arrive. We have had to furlough our amazing team to ensure they are cared for too.

With no end in sight, the next few months are scary for us and we realise it is best to ask for your help.  This is our first-ever funding page and we are in your hands.

We totally respect this is a difficult time for everyone and it is only with heartfelt concern we are appealing to you to help us ensure that the feed bill is something less to worry about. We will re-open our doors to you all as we have the skills to survive, but right now we also recognise that we need help.

We thank you kindly, in advance, for understanding our situation and for any donation you feel you are able to give.
