Help Family of 6 Critically Hurt by Drunk Driver

Donation protected

On March 20th, my family was heading home from a gathering around 7:30pm when their SUV was struck by an intoxicated driver traveling at 120mph. The impact was so severe it caused the car to flip over and spin multiple times leaving six of them injured. Four of them were rushed to multiple hospitals, with one that had to be lifted via helicopter.

Thankfully all of them were able to survive, but their physical injuries & emotional trauma will take a toll on them for a while.

My aunt Charina Lubas is a caregiver and she is suffering a severe head injury. She currently can’t see out of her right eye because it had to be stitched.
Today (March 22nd)  is her & her husband’s anniversary, but they are unable to celebrate due to her injuries as well as their daughter’s.

My 11-year old cousin Chloe Lubas was thrown out of the vehicle during the incident, leaving her with a head injury as well. She was separated with her mom and had to be rushed through an airlift to a pediatric hospital.

My grandmother Maria Manlangit is suffering with injuries on her arm. Luckily, she was able to be rushed towards the same hospital as Charina.

My youngest sister Clarisse Ganaden had to undergo immediate surgery because of a femoral shaft fracture.
She, like Chloe, was isolated and had to be in a separate hospital as well.

My mother and stepdad, Vivian & Roger Villanueva, were luckily not in critical condition like the rest. Vivian has been suffering with pain in her chest, left arm and ribs. Roger has been suffering with pain in his neck, but being that they need to look after the rest of the family, they’ve been pushing through it and doing what they can to help everyone else.

Unfortunately because of this tragedy, this has put 5 of my family members out of work. Each of their medical bills are through the roof. The insurance is only going to be able to cover the replacement of the car.

We started this page in hopes of offsetting their financial burdens, and we appreciate anything you can give.

My family has lived in San Diego since the 70’s. My mother has been a nurse for 20+ years and worked through this entire pandemic. My aunt & uncle are unsure how long they will be out of work due to Charina’s injuries as well as Chloe’s. Every single one of them are going through PTSD from the event and can’t stop the scenario from replaying in their heads. They didn't deserve to go through this, and neither does anyone else's. With the restrictions lightening up and people being able to go out and drink, we hope people learn from our story and prevent any more tragic DUI crashes like this one.

Please keep my family in your prayers. We are eternally grateful for each and every one of you.
