My name is Fabiola Liévano. I'm a 47 years old Medical Doctor, and in 2020 I tested positive for COVID.

Two months after what I believed was a mild COVID infection, I started developing a pulmonary fibrosis which by August 2022 has scarred about 90% of my lung tissue. This means I only have 10% of my lung function left, and it keeps declining. This makes breathing harder with each passing day, because my body is no longer able to process oxygen.

A total lung transplant is my only hope to stay alive, and for this I need your help.

I am currently about to undergo the final stage of the medical studies that will put me on a transplant list with high priority status. This surgery is extremely expensive, so right now money is the only thing standing in the way of staying alive.

The surgery will take place at the Christus Muguerza Hospital in Monterrey, Mexico. The medical bills alone amount to USD 600,000 so I'm begging for your help!

I have a hard time breathing.

I'm suffocating more and more and I'm running out of both air and time.

Before COVID I was an independent woman. I lived alone with my two dogs, was able to drive to work everyday and would travel and exercise in my spare time. I enjoyed mountain biking and strived to continue building my skillset both for my own personal growth, as well as to better care for my patients. This is the life I knew and loved, but two years ago it changed forever. Life as I knew it would be no more.

After COVID my life changed. I started feeling very tired and two months later when I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis I saw this as a challenge I would be able to overcome. Wanting to heal and hoping for this not to be a death sentence, I resorted to all kinds of treatments both medical and holistic.

Now, every breath could be my final one. I wear an oxygen mask 24/7 yet still gasp for air. I know I'm running out of time. Any small effort -even talking- makes my oxygen saturation drop below 40 (normal is +95), and this can also lead to a heart attack. My best case scenario when my saturation drops is simply fainting.

I am scared.

But I'm also hopeful. I decide to put my fate in the hands of God and each one of you, hoping for a miracle. I want to live and be able to be with my family. I want to look after and continue caring for my patients. I wish to see my nieces grow and be able to play with them. Please help me be able to continue singing!

Mi nombre es Fabiola Liévano, tengo 47 años y soy Médico General. En Agosto de 2020 di positivo a COVID-19.

Dos meses después de mi infección, que creí había sido un COVID leve, empecé a desarrollar una fibrosis pulmonar que en Agosto de 2022 ha cicatrizado el 90% de mi tejido pulmonar. Esto significa que a día de hoy solo el 10% de mis pulmones está funcionando, y la enfermedad sigue avanzando. Esto me dificulta la respiración, porque mi cuerpo ya no es capaz de procesar el poco oxígeno que le llega.

Un transplante doble de pulmón es mi única esperanza de seguir con vida, y para esto necesito de tu ayuda.

Estoy por iniciar la fase final de los estudios médicos que me van a poner en la lista de transplantes, con prioridad inmediata. Esta cirugía es extremadamente costosa, por lo que juntar el dinero es lo único que se interpone entre mis nuevos pulmones y yo.

La cirugía se va a llevar a cabo en el Hospital Christus Muguerza en Monterrey, México. El costo de la misma ronda los 15 millones de Pesos Mexicanos, por lo que te ruego me ayudes!

Me cuesta trabajo respirar.

Me sofoco cada vez más, y me estoy quedando sin aire y sin tiempo.

Antes del COVID era una mujer independiente. Vivía sola con mis dos perros, manejaba todos los días al trabajo, y en tiempo libre viajaba y me ejercitaba. También me gustaba hacer ciclismo de montaña y participar en cursos que me permitieran seguir aprendiendo, tanto para mi propio crecimiento como también para poder atender mejor a mis pacientes. Esta es la vida que yo conocía y amaba, pero todo esto cambió hace dos años.

El COVID cambió mi vida. Me empecé a sentir muy cansada, y dos meses después de la infección y cuando fui diagnosticada con fibrosis pulmonar, vi esto como un reto que iba a poder superar. Buscando sanar y esperando que esto no fuera una sentencia de muerte, intenté todas las terapias que me fueron sugeridas, tanto médicas como holísticas.

Ahora, cada vez que respiro podría ser la última. Uso una mascarilla de oxígeno 24/7 y aún así me falta el aire. Me estoy quedando sin tiempo. Cualquier esfuerzo -incluso hablar- hace que mi saturación caiga debajo de 40 (lo normal es +95), y esto me puede ocasionar un infarto, aunque en el mejor de los casos solo me voy a desmayar.

Tengo miedo.

Pero también tengo mucha esperanza. Decido poner mi destino en las manos de Dios y de cada uno de ustedes, esperando un milagro. Quiero vivir y poder estar con mi familia. Quiero seguir atendiendo y curando a mis pacientes. Quiero ver a mis sobrinas crecer y poder jugar con ellas. Por favor ayúdame a que yo vuelva a cantar.
