URGENT! We need your help in supporting a single momma trying desperately to help her daughter through a mental health crisis.
On July 3rd, my stepdaughter Ezi was admitted to an in-patient psych facility in response to growing mental health struggles that have left her a danger to herself. Our brave girl had to leave her family in the middle of the night to go to a facility 200 miles away from them. She’ll be there for at least 6 days. Ezi is a Black, queer, 13 year old who loves anime, drawing and will always have a different look every time you see her. She LOVES wearing different wigs to change up her style and color. She’s also been struggling with mental health for a few years, being in and out of therapists, different diagnoses, emergency rooms and on and off medications. This has taken not only an emotional toll on the family, but a financial one as well. Mental health services are not cheap, not easy, and very limited for children in their area.
Momma Karly is a strong, single mom of three girls in small town WI. She works at a salon and is wicked with coloring. If you ever want some bright color in your life, she’s your gal. Even in the best of times, being a single mom is tough. Karly doesn't get sick days, or time to herself. She is a warrior, she’s always done everything on her own. But right now, she needs our help.
We are unsure of how much of her stay will be covered by insurance, but the facility runs $2000+ a night without it. We estimate approximately $500 for family therapy for Karly & her other girls through this as well. Karly also needs help with lost wages to feed her kids and be able to fix her car so she can pick her daughter up in a few days, which we estimate to total approximately $1000. Until we have more information on the bills, we’re setting our starting goal at $5000 in hopes to cover lost wages, reliable transportation, medical bills, medication, and family therapy.
