Help evacuate Doaa's family out of Gaza

I'm Doaa Samour, reaching out to you from Gaza, Palestine, with a plea for help. My family and I are currently displaced and facing unimaginable challenges, including homelessness, sickness, lack of medicine, and extremely limited access to food in Deir El-Balah, located in the middle of the Gaza Strip.

I've initiated this campaign to seek your support in evacuating my family to safety in Egypt. Your generous donations can make a life-changing difference for us. Please consider contributing whatever you can and kindly share this campaign with your friends, family, and on your social platforms.

I am a 37-year-old Palestinian mother, born and raised in Gaza. My family consists of my 41-year-old husband Ahmed, our 13-year-old daughter Rahaf, 10-year-old son Kareem, and our little angel daughter Ibtesam, who is 5 years old. As a mother, my dream was to provide a safe and normal life for my children, filled with love and opportunities.

Prior to the war, we used to live in the Al-Remal neighborhood in Gaza City, where our cozy apartment was full of life and dreams. However, everything changed when the Israeli occupation began targeting and bombing our area on the 7th of October. My husband, Ahmed, has a dislocated shoulder and needs surgery, surviving on medication and painkillers.

On the 9th of October, at 4 AM, we received a terrifying call from the Israeli army, instructing us to evacuate our house within five minutes. In the midst of the shock and horror, my husband, visibly shaken, cradled our sleeping children in his arms as we quickly fled our house, clutching nothing but our lives for safety. The abrupt departure triggered a storm of screams and shouts from our children, who had been roused from sleep by the terrifying situation.

Merely two houses away, the bombing commenced, intensifying the trauma experienced by our kids. The panic attacks that ensued during that fateful night linger, haunting their sleep to this day. Night after night, at the same hour, our children awaken with screams and shouts, and despite our efforts, we find ourselves helpless in soothing their distress.

As we anxiously awaited the break of dawn, we navigated the dangerous path to my family's home, a journey full with the horrible sounds of bombs and explosions.

The ongoing war has shattered our homes and dreams. We are displaced, humiliated, starved, and abandoned. Daily threats to our lives make us yearn for a chance to live in peace. The situation in Gaza is dire, with suffering, diseases, starvation, dehydration, and a slow painful death as the prevailing realities.

Your donations go beyond financial support; they signify dedication to protecting human life, humanity, solidarity, and compassion in the face of unprecedented injustice. I implore you to assist my family in reaching safety. Every donation, regardless of size, matters. Please share our story and stand in solidarity with us during this darkest chapter of our lives.

Through the Egyptian authorities, there is an opportunity for my family to leave Gaza and start a new life in Egypt and your donations will be spent on this process. The following is a breakdown of the costs:

1. The Egyptian authorities are charging $5,000 per adult for the Rafah crossing permit and the coordination of the transit from Gaza to Egypt. There is a total of 2 adults in this family and they are charging $2,500 per child, so the total amount needed to be paid is $17,500 for the whole family.

2. $15,000 will be spent on setting up the life of the Samour`s family in Egypt—the purchase of clothing, the renting of a home, food, and other necessities.

3. Roughly, $2000 -$3000 will be used to cover the fees associated with this GoFundMe.

4. $14,500 will be spent on the treatment and the operation of my husband’s dislocated shoulder, in addition to the costs of my treatment and my five years old daughter who suffers from problem in swallowing that reaches suffocation.

So we are in desperate need for a total of $50,000 to help my family evacuate and survive and I will keep you all updated.
