Help ESL teacher get vital surgery

This gofundme campaign is to help a teacher in desperate need of spinal surgery her insurance won't cover. Her name is Lorraine Hathaway, and she is a personal friend of mine. She formerly taught ESL (meaning her students speak English as a second language) classes and still teaches, helping seniors graduate prepared for the challenges of adult life. She also helped me learn that people can be wonderful friends even if their beliefs differ greatly. She has had trouble with her back since I met her back in high school. I was a student and she was the leader of a club I was in, as well as an ESL teacher who would go on to become a lifelong friend.

Why should you donate to help Lorraine? Because she is a compassionate and patient person who spent years as an ESL teacher, sacrificing her time and kindly teaching kids in a school located in Lancaster, CA. These kids, many of whom came from disadvantaged families and neighborhoods (and who, to put it gently, could be quite a handful) depended on her for their education.

Sadly, teachers are paid so poorly that they sometimes end up in situations where they're unable to even afford insurance covering decent healthcare. It's an unbelievable crime that people like Lorraine who help to lift the future of this country from states of poor education can't even make enough money to pay for healthcare which would prevent them from becoming crippled!

I believe that teachers, particularly teachers of challenging students, are a seriously underpaid and under appreciated but essential and valuable resource to this country. If you believe as I do that they should, at a minimum, be able to receive needed healthcare- please, donate to help my friend Lorraine.

To elaborate a bit on her medical situation, if you're interested:
She had surgery to try to help her spinal pain recently but the surgery was botched, putting her in terrible debilitating pain many times worse than before... literally crippling her. Her insurance will not cover a surgery to repair her spine unless she goes back to the doctor that crippled her for an even more dangerous surgery! There is a safer surgery she could get from a different surgeon, but her insurance refuses to cover it... which is why we are here. I find it appalling her insurance has such absurd and life-threatening conditions for its aid. She needs your help. Thank you for considering it!
