Help Erica With Kidney Transplant & Medical Needs

Erica Cousins is in dire need of a Kidney and Pancreas transplant and she is looking for a live kidney donor, blood type O+.
Erica is only 34 years old and has worked for her community for the last 15 years. She has worked as a youth counsellor and child protection worker in N.B., N.S., Ont., Alb., and B.C. She has dedicated her life to making positive changes in the lives of traumatized youth. Erica now has returned to her hometown of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton due to her declining health.
Erica has had Type 1 Diabetes for her entire life and has recently suffered several complications.
In May 2020 while living in Alberta, she got sick with an infection and went septic. The sepsis caused her heart, lungs, and kidneys to fail and had to be put on a ventilator. She was air-lifted from Fort Mac to Edmonton. She was in the hospital for 2 months and had pneumonia, blood clots, fluid around her heart and lungs, and her kidneys continued to fail so she was placed on dialysis. She is in end-stage kidney failure (stage 5) and is on dialysis to sustain life. Due to many complications as well as another infection that turned septic, Erica is now on home dialysis 7 days a week for 10 hours per day.
Erica was denied long term disability in Alberta due to working for less than two years in that province and is now unable to work due to her overall health. Erica has a lot of medical expenses that are not covered. Erica needs medical supplies, groceries for a special diet. Erica also needs a shower installed in her home, as she only has a bathtub and is unable to take baths, due to her dialysis port in her stomach. Erica will also needs funds to travel to either Halifax or Toronto for pre and post transplant care. Before Erica can receive the transplants she needs dental work completed as part of a pre-transplant care plan.
Erica would like to be around for her 3 fur-babies, her nephew, her nephew-on-the-way, and her 2 godchildren, as well as the rest of her family.
