Help Emilie Heal after 4 years of fighting Breast

Hi my name is Ryan Mc Bride Emilie’s husband and daddy to Elaia 20 and Anna 15. We live in the South West if France. 4 years ago in February 2020 Emilie was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer since then it’s been a roller coaster with very good results with the first chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, one year later we learnt that the tumor was active again she tried another chemotherapy with good results which made it possible to undergo a massive surgery in Toulouse at the end of September 2022, where they removed the tumor and a piece of her thorax (the tumor was lodged on it) and very impressive Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous flap procedure which means Reconstruction using the rectus abdominis flap. Its major disadvantages are that it creates an additional scar in the abdomen and weakens the abdominal wall leading to gastric problems. The surgery was successful and after 7 days in ICU and 3 more additional days at hospital she was able to come home for a night. She then spent 3 weeks in a re-education center. Her convalescence and scaring was long. We were confident, unfortunately after a PetScan check in February 2023 they discovered that the disease was present in her right breast and mediastinum area she went back for chemotherapy, the first one wasn’t satisfactory so she tried another one which was very difficult with several episodes of anemia and strong nausea.

After almost one year non stop of different treatments we discovered in February this year that the cancer had metastasized to her liver and bones, she tried another chemotherapy which was unsuccessful and showed a rapid growth of the cancerous cells in her liver.

Now her oncologist suggested her to enter a clinical trial in a specialized center in Bordeaux, she has been accepted and starts April 23.

On top of all of that she has now a severe Hypothyroidism which leaves her with severe fatigue, she has been on a hormonal treatment for 5 weeks and the effects should be showing with 2 to 4 weeks.

Emilie has been so strong and always fighting, always here for her family and friends. She even went back to university in September to study humanitarian Law, she passed successfully her first exams even though she was in her chemo week with strong secondary effects. As for today she is not sure to have the strength for the second part of the year.

Now where are looking at alternative therapies ( supplements, acupuncture, massages…) to give her all the chances to beat this disease. All these therapies are not reimbursed by the French social security or our private health insurance. For the moment her family is helping but it is a heavy financial burden for them.
