Hello, my name is Elsie Stevens. In the derby world I’m known as Elsie U. Later. I’ve been playing roller derby since I was six-years-old and this year, I’m so proud to have been selected to represent the United States Junior Roller-derby team. We are a hardworking group of 20 athletes from across the country who will be training together to multiple locations over the next six months, and then traveling together to compete in France in July, 2023. While I’m excited and proud, I’m also very aware and concerned about the cost. This is my 2nd time being selected for the JRDA Jr USA Team, but due to the pandemic, my first opportunity was cut short and we weren’t able to compete. I spent the money I fund-raised for in 2019 on gear and a new pair of skates that I trained in to get me to this point again.
