Help Elisa During Recovery

Donation protected
In 2016 “Elisa Lopez” (an alias to protect her identity) then in her 20s, fled her home country in Central America after severe domestic abuse. While in immigration detention in California, she was hospitalized for a serious heart attack and numerous other episodes of tachycardia and low blood pressure.  A pro bono legal group accepted her case and Faith in Action Bay Area raised funds for her to resettle in the US. She was released to pursue her immigration case and is now living in the Midwest.

In 2020 Elisa was hospitalized with COVID-19. Her heart and lungs were severely impacted. She recovered enough to do housecleaning work but in November 2021, even though she’d been vaccinated, she suffered a COVID breakthrough case and was rehospitalized.

Elisa will not be strong enough to support herself for some time. Due to her immigration status she doesn’t qualify for public assistance or Medicaid. We are seeking donations to pay for her overdue medical bills, medications, and living expenses. With your help she can keep her upcoming medical appointments which will include critical tests.

Minimum monthly expenses = $1500
Fundraising goal = $6,000
