Elijah Howell is a 20 year old young man with a beautiful spirit and a good heart, he is the Best kid a parent could ever ask for.
On May 30th a seemingly routine trip to the E.R for headache and flu symptoms lasting weeks, turned into a mother's worst nightmare.
Elijah was admitted to the hospital with with not 1 but 2 brain tumors, requiring immediate surgery to drain fluid building up and a biopsy to find out what we were dealing with. Within a week we knew Elijah had a rare form of cancer called a germinoma, and a rare form of diabetes (diabetes insipidus)caused by the cancer. Not many cases like his have been seen and he has required alot of specialists to review his case.
We will be moving forward with 12 weeks chemotherapy and 3- 5 weeks radiation starting next week.
He will be seeing his oncology Dr. regularly for the next year, and require many more MRIs, CT scans, lab work etc.
Elijah has a long battle ahead and we realize the bills will start piling up since he is unable to work and I have taken a leave of absence to care for him. Between co-pays, prescriptions, share of cost and travel on top of Everyday bills. We are asking our friends and family that would like to help, to do it here.
