Help Draya Fight Breast Cancer

Greetings friends and family,

My name is Wendy Alfaro and I have been friend's with La'Draya Macon for over ten years. In an effort to support her unexpected journey ahead I setup a fundraiser to raise awareness and invite others to join.

In November 2021, days before her 35th birthday, La’Draya was diagnosed with breast cancer. She took this news in stride and has been moving quickly with her healthcare team to interrupt the course of cancer development.

La’Draya works as a Clinical Social Worker in NYC supporting individuals with Mental Health concerns and fighting drug and alcohol addiction. We wish we lived in a society that fairly compensated social service workers for their work but until they do, this upward battle to finance cancer treatment remains.

Cancer treatment comes with a hefty price tag that includes surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, specialty doctor visits, medications, fertility treatment to preserve options for motherhood, and testing to name a few.

Here is a snapshot of a few out of pocket medical expenses that are anticipated::

-Fertility treatment expenses

-Specialty medications insurance cannot cover

-Mental health care costs

-Unpaid time off from work (lost wages) to attend medical visits

-Deductibles to meet before insurance covers costs

-Fees for specialty medical doctors (oncologist, surgeons, etc.)

-Transportation (gas and parking)

-Wigs and hair replacement options
