Help Displaced Children in Armenia to Learn

When the bar is high, we break down the journey into steps, right? Help us achive one fifth of our initial goal of 5000, because right now, many children in Armenia are growing in a deadly post-war crisis amid the global pandemic. Trauma and displacement have a profound impact on the developing brains of children. Their memory, concentration, resilience and self-regulation are deeply affected by the impacts of war.
71% of our students say they have significant challenges in learning, about which their teachers do not know at school. Many children we work with have lost 2 to 3 months of schooling and they may lose more because the new school is still a tough place for them to learn. Some of them have dropped out to work losing motivation, dreams and future aspirations.
Since the beginning of war in September 2020, NorArar Education Initiative has been working on designing psychosocial interventions for children affected by war. Yet, the needs assessment with parents established the significance of a comprehensive after-school educational programme for nurturing the academic and non-academic development of our children.
We desperately need your help to address the immediate and long-term effects of this poly-crisis as we do not have generations to waste.
- $50 can provide a month of small group instruction on 4 core subjects for 1 child
- $4 can provide a child with stationery for a month
- $10 can train a teacher on trauma informed approaches and tools to research her classroom and make it a safer place to learn
- $100 can provide one month’s worth of nutritious food for a family in crisis
