We believe the ocean is for everyone.
At Ability Surf, our vision is to provide individualised surf lessons to people with a mild to moderate disability in the Northern Coast of New South Wales.
After a lengthy and costly process we are glad to say we finally have a council permit and license to teach people with a disability to surf.
Our founder and head surf instructor, Em Bracken, is passionate about sharing the surfing stoke and happiness of riding a wave. As a surf instructor, Occupational Therapist and disability support worker, she knows the importance of enhancing confidence, skills and independence of individuals living with a disability.
This is what drives her to promote inclusion and to be able to share the wonderful therapeutic benefits of the ocean and surfing with people with a disability.
So why do we need to raise funds?
We need to cover insurance, safety and legal costs and surf equipment. We are currently a one-woman show, with no funding and Emma taking on all responsibilities.
Any additional funds raised will go towards more surfboards, wetsuits, a stand- up- paddle board and adaptive equipment.
