Help Dionne complete her journey to womanhood

My name is A. Dionne Stallworth and I’m 63 years old. I have been an advocate for transgender rights since the late 80s. At 50, I found out that I had been born intersex – meaning having male & female genitals. In 1959, my parents chose for me to be a boy. They chose wrong. After much hardship, soul searching and sacrifice I decided to become and embrace the woman I knew myself to be. I intend to be formally married before the end of the year. I don’t blame my parents for their choice, but I do know that I was never the son they wanted. President Biden has kept his promise to work to make things better for transamericans by making health care and insurance more accessible, among other things. For the 1st time in my life, my insurance will cover my bottom confirmation surgery with a co-pay of $7000. Only a year ago, it was almost twice that. I am in considerably good health, considering my ethnicity, background and that I have survived my transition thus far. I have tried my best to fight for us all – trans or not – by doing the right thing. I’ve made it with a little help from my friends and a great medical team. I have never asked much from my family, friends or contemporaries because I have done my best to make it on my own, Now, I need help from all of you because with the current state of politics and my advance age I’m looking at my window of opportunity for confirmation surgery being attainable and affordable closing quickly. I know times are hard. In fact, they have seldom been harder for queer POCs. I have given time, physical ability and even money for our causes. Now, I need to ask for your help for me to present myself to my wife, and my Creator as I should be – not as someone else’s vision of me. Please do what you can to help me. Thank you.
